Generation 2 help and support

Getting Started

  • Charge your watch by connecting the charger to the back of the smartwatch. The embedded magnets will allow it to remain in place.
  • Search and install the Citizen Connected app from the App Store or Google Play, including syncing your personal Gmail account.
  • Once app is open on your device, follow the prompts to pair your smartwatch.

Ensure your smartwatch is fully charged before attempting to turn it on. Once it is, use the middle pusher to press and hold for at least three seconds. Note that your watch will also power on while it is connected to the charger.

To start the pairing process, reference the below:

On CZ Smart Gen 2 watch: Choose language then select watch name from available options.

On your phone: Open Citizen Connected and select your watch type; then allow Bluetooth to connect to your Gen 2 smartwatch. Wait for the pairing code to appear on your watch and phone and confirm they match. Once you have successfully paired your watch, you will see a confirmation message. This may take several minutes. To complete pairing and setup, follow the instructions on your watch and phone.

Mobile phones running the latest version of Android™ or iOS® will work with CZ Smart Gen 2 smartwatches.

Supported features may vary between countries with compatibility subject to change. All devices are Bluetooth® enabled with an improved data transfer of 4.1 Low Energy.

  • Press the middle button or swipe down from the top of your screen.

  • Scroll to find your network and tap.
  • Power on phone and start Citizen Connected app.
  • Tap Enter on phone to complete password entry.
  • Enter password on phone.

If your watch is paired with an Android phone and has Wi-Fi, your watch can automatically connect to saved Wi-Fi networks when it loses the Bluetooth connection with your phone. That way, you can get notifications and use voice search on your watch throughout your home and work even when you leave your phone in a different room.

The range of the wireless Bluetooth connection between your phone and your smartwatch can vary greatly depending on the environment. In general, you should have at least 10 meters (or 30 feet) of connectivity.

Ensure that your smartwatch is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Launch the Citizen Connected App and follow the on-screen instructions for pairing your watch. If it fails to connect, check the Bluetooth menu on your phone. If you see the smartwatch in the device list, remove it. Launch the Citizen Connected App and repeat the pairing process.

iOS: Multiple watches can be paired with the app simultaneously including one touchscreen and mulitple hybrid smartwatch

ANDROID: Multiple watches can be paired with the app simultaneously including a touchscreen and a hybrid smartwatch

YouQ

CZ Smart YouQ technology uses AI Models Built with IBM Watson® Studio to power its learning and understanding of your individual sleep-wake preference, which is your chronotype. Matching you to your chronotype enhances CZ Smart YouQ’s abilities to provide you with enhanced personalisation. For example, your YouQ tech can help you identify whether you’re a person who’s more motivated in the morning or likes to get things done at night. When there are shifts from your optimal baseline, CZ Smart YouQ will help you get back on track. YouQ shows you when you’re out of alignment with your chronotype and forecasts the impact on your energy levels for the next 12 hours. For a look ahead at the next 48 hours, the Extended Power Curve provides scenarios for how your energy levels may fluctuate as compared to your optimal baseline; depending on whether you make progress toward paying down your sleep debt and improving your chronotype alignment. It achieves all of this by capturing your sleep data plus Alert Monitor scores, factoring in your circadian rhythm and sleep pressure (homeostatic sleep drive), and then applying the most up-to-date research findings from leading scientific experts (including experts from NASA’s Ames Research Fatigue Countermeasures Laboratory) to deliver you radically personalised forecasts of how your energy levels will ebb and flow throughout your day ahead.   Over time, aggregating data will enable CZ Smart YouQ to cater to you more personally; not just in attuning you to your body’s natural rhythms, but also in understanding the effectiveness of certain Power Fixes, which enable it to provide more precise recommendations to help you optimise yourself and plan for what’s ahead.

CZ Smart YouQ technology is ingeniously designed to adapt and learn about your unique traits, behaviors, and actions. It leverages AI Models built with IBM Watson® Studio, which continues to improve in accuracy with each interaction, allowing you to uncover your true chronotype and establish a baseline to help you make the most of every moment of every day. Morning enthusiast? Nighttime devotee? Somewhere in the middle? Your preference for the given times of day when you like to get things done and when you like to go to sleep and wake up is referred to as your chronotype. Your chronotype is closely associated with your circadian rhythms, which are your body’s internal clocks that govern the natural cycle of physical, mental, and behavioral changes your body goes through in a 24-hour cycle, including your sleep/wake patterns. Understanding your chronotype is important because it helps determine when during the day you’re at your most energetic, alert, and productive and when you’re not. Sleep/wake patterns that are out of alignment with your chronotype due to things like travel, work schedules, and socialising can adversely affect your overall wellness and quality of life. Misalignment with your chronotype can impact more than just your sleep quality; it can also lead to decreased productivity and cognitive performance. CZ Smart YouQ technology classifies chronotype misalignment according to three different levels of severity and duration: acute, chronic, and persistent. Acute misalignment occurs when an individual's sleep-wake cycle is disrupted for a short period, such as during a single night of sleep deprivation or after a single overnight shift. Chronic misalignment results when an individual's sleep-wake cycle is regularly disrupted over a period of time, such as in the case of shift work or jet lag. Persistent misalignment involves consistent misalignment between an individual's natural sleep-wake cycle and the external environment (and therefore an individual’s chronotype). This results in persistent blunting of energy peaks and drops, increased daytime sleepiness, and impaired executive function. Fear not, CZ Smart YouQ provides you with personalised recommendations (Power Fixes) to support you in staying aligned with your chronotype so you can be at your best all day every day.

CZ Smart YouQ technology revolves around you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No other smartwatch knows you as well and can enable you to get in sync with your circadian rhythms to help you drive your own success. Circadian rhythms are internally driven cycles that rise and fall during a 24-hour period that different systems of the body follow. Circadian rhythms are like internal timekeepers that play a central role in the regulation of various physical, mental, and behavioral processes, in particular our sleep-wake cycles. During the day, circadian rhythms modulate our waking behavior, affecting how and when we experience moments of peak alertness, as well as fatigue. Things like jet lag, meal timing, social activity, working overnight and the sun’s cycles can impact our circadian rhythms. The timing of our circadian rhythms (especially the sleep-wake cycle) exists on a continuum, with some people tending toward earlier morning rhythms and others who are more aligned with evening rhythms. Your chronotype determines this preference for the given times of day when you like to get things done and when you like to go to sleep and wake. In general, you perform at your best when your circadian rhythms are in sync with your natural sleep schedule (chronotype). When your circadian rhythms are aligned with your chronotype, it means that your body is functioning at its best and you're more alert and focused throughout the day. So, what does it mean to be in sync with your circadian rhythms? Well, it means that your body is well-adapted to the natural cycles of light and dark in the environment around you. When you're exposed to bright light during the day and experience darkness at night, your body's internal clock is better able to regulate important processes like sleep, hormone production, and metabolism. But sometimes, our body's internal clock can get out of sync with the environment around us. This can happen when we travel across time zones or work night shifts, for example. In those instances, it might take a little extra effort to get our body back on track. We can do things like exposing ourselves to bright light in the morning or adjusting our sleep schedules to help our body better align with our natural sleep-wake cycle. The bottom line is that taking care of our internal clocks is important for our overall well-being. So next time you're feeling tired or sluggish, remember that your body's internal timekeepers might need a little love and attention. Rest assured that the CZ Smart YouQ technology featuring IBM Watson® AI provides you with everything you need to keep your circadian rhythms intact and your energy and alertness at optimal levels throughout the day every day.

On the watch: You’ll see an edit icon below the watch face when scrolling through the list of options. Tap the edit icon to access customization settings (press and hold a watch face to alternately access these settings).

On the app: Tap on your watch in the app, then select tap to customize.

Account & Device Settings

Open the Citizen Connected app. Notifications, Calendar, and Advanced Settings can all be accessed and edited from the home screen. To access your watch settings, swipe from top to bottom on your watch face and tap the gear icon.

Open the Citizen Connected app. Tap the menu icon in the top left-hand corner and select your profile account to change your name.

  • The password for your Citizen Connected account can be changed by opening the Citizen Connected phone app, tap on the menu icon in the top left, then tap on your email/username.
  • Do note, at this time, if you created a username and password to login to the citizenwatch.co.uk e-commerce site, that uses a different login than our app so even if you use the same email and password in both places, changing one of these in either place will not update to the other place. Lastly, if you login with another account, like Google or Facebook, you need to go to that company's site or apps to change your passwords.

Your Citizen Connected app follows the language for which your phone is set. To change the language on your watch, you must updated the language settings on your smartphone.

Please visit the Citizen Connected app to understand more about how your personal data is being used. Tap the menu icon at the top left, then About, then Privacy Policy and/or Terms of Use.

Syncing and Troubleshooting

Access the Settings then System Menu on your watch. Tap About then System Updates to see if you are running the latest version. If your operating system is running on the latest, your watch will indicated this saying it is up-to-date and if not, it will initiate an update.

If your watch does not complete an update, try the following:

  • Be sure you are connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal.
  • Prevent interference by disabling Bluetooth.
  • Ensure you have at least 50% battery life.
  • Try restarting your watch and phone.

  • Confirm the phone is on, that it is not in airplane mode and there there is data or Wi-Fi connection.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
  • Be sure that the app is open and shows the device as Connected (and if it says Disconnected, reconnect the device to the app).
  • For iPhone users, be sure the Citizen Connected app is running in the background.
  • Make sure the phone and watch have at least 70% charge and that the watch is up-to-date and the phone is running the most recent operating system.

If you continuously encounter issues that aren’t solved by other troubleshooting methods, you may need to disconnect and reset your watch. Because a factory reset removes all previous settings and accounts, you will need to set up your watch again after resetting.

  • Swipe down from the top of your screen.
  • Tap Settings, then scroll down and tap System.
  • Tap Disconnect & reset, then tap the checkmark to confirm.
  • While the smartwatch resets, go into your phone’s Bluetooth settings and remove the device from your list.

After your device has been reset and removed from Bluetooth, you can re-pair it with the Citizen Connected app. To do this, tap the watch icon at the top right and select Add New Watch to go through the pairing and setup process.

If the interior temperature of your device exceeds the normal operating range, your device will protect its internal components by attempting to regulate its temperature. If this occurs, you might notice:

  • Device is automatically switched to extended battery mode.
  • Charging speed is reduced.
  • Wi-Fi is turned off.
Users are unable to change the battery mode or turn Wi-Fi during this time. Here's what to do:
  • If you're wearing your device, remove it from your wrist. If your device is in the process of charging, remove it from its charger.
  • Once your device has cooled down it will return to normal operation.
